Event Overview
Welcome message:

This unique multidisciplinary symposium will cover the latest scientific developments, both findings from basic research and clinical insights important to everybody’s daily practice. A number of renowned specialists in the field will discuss the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of lower extremity problems in diabetes. Interactive workshops will provide you with useful information for your daily clinical practice and oral/poster presentations of submitted abstracts will inform you on the current status of research.

The International Symposium on the Diabetic Foot has become the standard international (scientific) meeting on this topic. Because of the success of our earlier meetings and the continuous increase in size, we had to say goodbye to the venue in Noordwijkerhout that is so familiar to many of you. A larger venue was selected for 2015: Word Forum Convention Center in The Hague, The Netherlands. The Hague is a beautiful city on the Dutch North Sea coast, just behind the dunes, full of history, royalty and museums. It is only 45 minutes away from Amsterdam airport by convenient public transport.

We look forward to welcoming you to The Hague for another interesting and inspiring event in the series of the quadrennial ISDF meetings in May 2015.

Prof. dr. Nicolaas C. Schaper, chairman

Abstracts should meet all of the following specifications in order to be considered for scheduling:

  1. Language
Abstracts should be written in English. The ISDF 2015 organizers reserve the right to correct abstracts for obvious spelling or grammatical errors without the authors’ consent.
  2. Title
Each abstract should have a brief descriptive title of maximally 140 characters, including spaces. and should be written in sentence case. Trademarks are not allowed in the abstract title.
  3. Authors
Names, institutional affiliations, cities, and countries of all contributing authors should be provided. A maximum of 15 authors per abstract is allowed. Authors’ first name and middle name (if any) initials, followed by his or her last name as entered, will appear on the abstract when it will be published. Authors names will appear in the order entered by the submitting author. The presenting author (not necessarily the first author) should be identified. All communications regarding an abstract will go to the submitting author, irrespective the designation of the presenting author.
Please verify that your email address (submitter and presenting author) is correct as it will be used for contacting you after the review process.
  4. Text
Abstract text should be between 300 and 2300 characters, including spaces. If an illustration (photograph/table/figure) is uploaded for inclusion in the abstract, the maximum allowable character count is 1800 (including spaces).
If the word count is not reduced adequately, the ISDF 2015  organizers reserve the right to omit the illustration from the published abstract. The abstract must include the following:
Aim: Clearly state the purpose of the abstract.
Methods: Describe your selection of observations or experimental subjects clearly.
Results: Present your results in a logical sequence in text, table and illustrations.
Conclusions: Emphasize new and important aspects of the study (perhaps as a discussion section) and the conclusions that are drawn from them.
The identity of technologies (approved or experimental) mentioned should be disclosed in the abstract text or by making reference to publicly accessible sources. Trademarks may be included in the abstract text between brackets, but only once and only the first time the product/service/technology is mentioned.
No identifying features such as names of authors, hospitals, medical schools, clinics or cities may be listed in the title or abstract text, as a “blind” review process will be used. You will be asked to enter the name(s) of author(s) and their institution(s), when you submit your abstract online.
All abbreviations must be defined in first use.Statements such as “results will be discussed” or “data will be presented” cannot be accepted.Use of brand names: Generic names must be used for all references to products or companies. The brand name can be inserted as a reference at the bottom of the abstract page. Papers containing brand names/company names in the abstract text (i.e. not in a reference at the bottom of the page) may be rejected for this reason only. ISDF 2015 reserves the right to replace any brand name with a generic name without further notice.
  5. Illustration
One figure/table/photograph may be added to an abstract. Submit graphical illustrations in jpg format and make reference to the illustration in the abstract text. Provide a brief caption for your illustration. In case an illustration is uploaded, reduce the abstract word count by 100 words.
  6. References
A maximum of five literature references may be added at the end of the abstract text. State only the first author’s name and bibliography (not the title of the paper) of each reference.
  7. Acknowledgements
Mention all sources of funding of the work described and other acknowledgements briefly at the end of the abstract text. References and acknowledgements are included in the 350 word count for the abstract text.
  8. Abstract topic
When asked to select an abstract topic from the pull-down menu, select the abstract topic matching the content of your abstract best. If none of the pre-specified topics applies to your abstract, while it fits the scope of ISDF 2015, select “Other”. The organizers reserve the right to change abstract topics for the purpose of poster scheduling.
  9. Keywords
Provide at least two specific keywords, describing the content of your abstract for scheduling and indexing purposes. Avoid general terms.
